A 57-year-old woman was found dead at the parking area of a condominium in Jalan Sulaman, Kota Kinabalu, after she was believed to have fallen from the 12th floor yesterday.
The incident was reported to police after the woman was discovered at about 6am at the parking area of the building.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrudin Mat Husain said officers from the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters (IPD) were immediately sent to the location following the report.
He said the investigation was assisted by the Sabah Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) Forensics Team and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel, who conducted inspections and gathered evidence at the scene.
“Initial investigations found that the victim was believed to have fallen from a condominium unit on the 12th floor of the building.
“However, no criminal elements were discovered during the examination at the scene,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The victim’s remains were subsequently taken to the Forensic Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I (HQEI) for a post-mortem examination.
Shahrudin said the case had been classified as sudden death (SDR), with further investigations still ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He also urged the public not to speculate about the case, stressing that unverified claims could interfere with the ongoing investigation.
Members of the public were also advised against sharing photographs or videos related to the incident as a mark of respect for the victim and her family.
