Perak MACC Arrests Company Owner, Car Broker Over Alleged Vehicle Document Scam

Date:

Two more men, including a company owner and a car broker, have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Perak for their alleged involvement in a syndicate falsifying vehicle ownership documents.

The suspects, both in their 30s and 40s, were arrested at around 4pm and 9pm yesterday after appearing at the Perak MACC office to have their statements recorded.

A source said the arrests followed an investigation by the MACC, in collaboration with the Road Transport Department (JPJ), into a syndicate allegedly falsifying vehicle ownership documents to change ownership status.

“The suspects have been remanded for seven days until Sept 21,” the source said.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate S. Evangelin at the Ipoh Civil Magistrates’ Court (2) this morning after an application was made by the MACC.

Meanwhile, Perak MACC director Azizul Ahmad Sarkawi confirmed the arrests when contacted.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
