Police are searching for a man to assist in investigations after a Form One female student was allegedly sexually harassed while walking to school in Taman Sri Saujana, Kota Tinggi, last week.
Kota Tinggi Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said a report was lodged on July 30, and the case is being investigated under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Police are looking for a man described as tall, slim and dark-skinned.
Authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Nurul Zakiyah Daud at 011-26046234.
The investigation follows a viral social media post by the victim’s mother, who claimed her daughter was followed by a man riding a motorcycle while on her way to school between 6.30am and 6.40am.
According to the post, the suspect, who was carrying a food delivery bag, allegedly exposed himself, showed the student obscene videos on his mobile phone, offered her money and later attempted to grab her hand.
The student managed to get away safely and later reported the incident to her teacher, who alerted the authorities.
