Police Lance Corporal Charged Over Alleged Drug Use At Ipoh Entertainment Outlet

Date:

A police officer with the rank of lance corporal was charged at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly taking dangerous drugs at an entertainment outlet in April.

The accused, Mohammad Aizat Zamli, 26, who is attached to the Segamat Police Station in Johor, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Magistrate S Punitha.

According to the charge, Mohammad Aizat allegedly consumed ketamine and MDMA at VIP Room 1 of Grand OC Sdn Bhd, Wisma Wolley, Jalan Canning Estate, Taman Ipoh, Kinta, at about 5.04am on April 5, 2026.

The charge was framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine of up to RM5,000 upon conviction.

The case was also read together with Section 38B(1) of the same Act, which allows the accused to be placed under supervision for between two and three years after completing any sentence imposed.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zulqarnain Wan Asmira offered bail at RM4,000.

However, the accused’s lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), Nur Nadzrah Badarudin, requested for a lower bail amount, citing that her client is unmarried and supports his elderly father.

The court later granted bail of RM2,000 with one surety and fixed August 26 for the next mention of the case for document submission and appointment of a lawyer.
