Police are investigating allegations of bullying and physical assault involving two primary school siblings in Kota Kinabalu after their father lodged a police report on Wednesday.
Acting Kota Kinabalu police chief Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Abdul Rahman said the complainant alleged that his two children had been repeatedly harassed and physically assaulted by a 12-year-old male pupil from the same school.
Preliminary investigations found that the first incident allegedly took place on Tuesday when the 12-year-old girl was kicked at the back of her head by her classmate.
The following day, her 11-year-old younger brother, who attends the same school, was also allegedly kicked in the stomach by the same boy.
As a result of the incidents, the girl reportedly suffered headaches, while the younger boy was left traumatised and fearful.
According to the father, the suspect had also been repeatedly harassing both children by making insulting phone calls and physically disturbing them in the classroom since the beginning of the school term.
Police are now conducting further investigations, including identifying the suspect and recording statements from the victims, witnesses, teachers and school administrators.
Both children have also undergone medical examinations to determine the extent of their injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 507(b) of the Penal Code.
Police have urged the public not to speculate or circulate information that could interfere with the investigation or reveal the identities of the children involved.
