Police have launched an investigation into a viral video allegedly depicting a student being bullied, following a report lodged at the Tenom District Police Headquarters.
Tenom District Police Chief Superintendent Azmir Abdul Razak said authorities are treating the matter seriously and have opened an investigation to identify those involved and determine exactly what transpired.
According to Azmir, investigators are currently gathering information and evidence related to the incident, including reviewing the video that has been widely circulated on social media.
“Police view this matter seriously and are conducting investigations to identify the individuals involved as well as establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” he said.
He added that officers are in the process of recording statements from witnesses and other relevant parties to assist with the investigation.
The viral clip has sparked concern among members of the public, with many calling for swift action if bullying is confirmed to have taken place.
Azmir said police will continue examining all available evidence before deciding on the next course of action.
He also assured the public that any significant developments in the case would be announced from time to time.
Authorities have urged members of the public not to speculate or spread unverified information that could interfere with ongoing investigations.
The case remains under investigation.
