A police report lodged over an alleged leak of confidential documents involving former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s defence team has been withdrawn, the High Court was told today.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigating officer Mazery Mohd Zaini informed the court that the report was withdrawn after he conducted checks at the MACC headquarters.
The senior assistant commissioner said his review found no evidence that confidential information or documents had been leaked by MACC officers.
“Based on the checks I conducted at the headquarters, I found that there was no leakage of information from MACC officers themselves.
“I am satisfied that there was no evidence or any documents that came out (were leaked) from MACC officers,” he said.
Mazery also said he had requested that his assistant’s statement be recorded by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to allow a No Further Action (NFA) decision to be issued on the report.
The matter arose during the re-examination of the prosecution’s 29th witness, who is also the investigating officer in the case involving Muhyiddin’s alleged corruption and abuse of power.
Yesterday, the MACC lodged a police report over an alleged leak of confidential documents containing copies of recorded conversations involving former Bersatu Segambut division deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad.
The alleged leak had become an issue during court proceedings involving Muhyiddin, who is facing charges related to corruption and abuse of power.
