A Malaysian retail store has gone viral after expressing frustration over an incident in which a child allegedly defecated and urinated inside its premises, leaving staff to clean up the mess.
The incident was shared by Threads user @darksideretail, who claimed the child relieved themselves on the floor of the store while shopping with a parent.
According to the post, employees only became aware of the situation after another customer informed them about the incident.
The store alleged that the parent did not notify staff or seek assistance despite the mess being left behind.
“Staff also have to clean your child’s faeces. We are very disappointed with the parent’s irresponsible attitude,” the post stated.
Photos shared online appeared to show droppings scattered across the store floor while employees were seen holding cleaning equipment as they dealt with the situation.
In a follow-up comment, the account further claimed that the parent continued browsing inside the store and even walked past the affected area before eventually leaving.
The store also alleged that no apology was offered, despite staff being nearby at the time.
“Even when staff were close by, not even one word of apology was said. Staff couldn’t take immediate action because they did not know which child was involved,” the account wrote.
The post quickly gained traction online, attracting more than one million views and thousands of reactions from social media users.
Many netizens expressed shock over the alleged incident, with some commenting that while accidents involving young children can happen, parents should at least inform staff and take responsibility for the situation.
Others sympathised with retail workers, saying they already face numerous challenges on the job and should not be left to deal with such incidents without being informed.
At the time of writing, the identities of the parent and child involved have not been disclosed.
