Retiree Plans Switzerland Trip After Winning RM1 Million From Bank Rakyat Draw

Date:

A retired man from Kajang, Selangor is planning a trip to Switzerland after unexpectedly winning RM1 million in the Bank Rakyat Rizq Plus i-Investment Account Millionaire Draw.

Aziz Mohamed, 68, said he never expected to win the grand prize, explaining that he initially joined Rizq Plus simply as a way to save money.

“It is all Allah’s provision. I put my money in Bank Rakyat with the intention of saving, but I never expected to win. I thought I might win RM10,000 or RM20,000, but Allah blessed me with RM1 million. I am very grateful,” he said at the #UntukSemua Rewards Celebration at Bank Rakyat Twin Towers today.

Aziz said he hopes to travel overseas with part of his winnings, with Switzerland among the destinations he is most eager to visit.

“I have performed Hajj and Umrah several times. So, if I remain healthy, I would like to travel and see other countries as well,” he said.

He added that he plans to manage the money carefully, with half of the winnings to be kept with Bank Rakyat while the remainder will be invested.

Meanwhile, Bank Rakyat chairman Datuk Mohd Irwan Mohd Mubarak said more than 250,000 Malaysians have signed up for the Rizq Plus i-Investment Account, with total investments exceeding RM1 billion.

He said the Shariah-compliant investment product, which can be started with as little as RM100, is designed to encourage healthier financial habits among customers.

“Since the product was introduced in 2022, five millionaires have been created,” he said.

The next Rizq Plus Millionaire Draw, scheduled for October 2026, will offer another RM1 million prize to a single winner.

At the same event, Bank Rakyat also celebrated winners of the RM100,000 Member Draw, RM20,000 Monthly Draw and the Suara Hati 2026 campaign.

Awang Ahmad Khadar Awang Zainal, 40, from Mukah, Sarawak, won the Suara Hati 2026 campaign and fulfilled his dream of owning a Toyota Fortuner.

Four other winners received gold wafers weighing 50g, 30g and 20g, along with household appliances worth RM10,000, while 65 consolation winners received RM500 each credited into their Rizq Plus i-Investment Accounts.
