A man was arrested with suspected syabu during Op Tapis Khas in Kampung Sessang, Kabong on Tuesday.
Saratok District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie said police found three transparent plastic packets containing crystal-like substances believed to be syabu during an inspection of the suspect’s sling bag.
He said the suspect was immediately detained and taken to the Saratok District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.
Initial checks revealed that the suspect, who is from Sarikei, had two previous records related to drug offences.
“The suspect also underwent a urine screening test which returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police also seized all relevant items believed to be linked to the case to assist investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of dangerous drugs, as well as Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for self-administration of dangerous drugs.
