Sarawak Haze Improves, But Kuching And Sri Aman Still In ‘Very Unhealthy’ Zone

Date:

The haze situation in Sarawak continued to improve this morning, with only Kuching and Sri Aman remaining in the “very unhealthy” air quality category.

As of 8am, no locations nationwide recorded hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings above 300.

Thirty-five locations, including Serian, recorded “unhealthy” API levels. Serian had declared an emergency on Friday after its API reading surged above 500.

Meanwhile, 23 locations recorded “moderate” air quality, while eight reported “good” readings.

Kuching recorded an API reading of 241, followed by Sri Aman at 215. Serian’s reading fell to 184, a significant improvement from the level that triggered the emergency declaration.

An API reading between 0 and 50 indicates good air quality, while 51 to 100 is considered moderate. Readings of 101 to 200 are classified as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and anything above 300 as hazardous.
