Selangor Sultan Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has been diagnosed with Influenza A and advised to rest for five to seven days to allow Him to make a full recovery.
Istana Alam Shah said in a statement today that the infection was detected by His Majesty’s personal physicians, Datuk Dr Anuar Onah and Datuk Dr Tan Hui Meng, after the Sultan developed a high fever and physical weakness on Friday morning.
The doctors believe His Majesty may have contracted the virus while attending public functions and interacting with members of the public, including at outdoor events.
“His Royal Highness’s health is gradually improving, although He is still experiencing a fever.
“His attending doctors have therefore advised Him to rest and refrain from attending any functions for five to seven days to allow Him to recover fully,” the statement said.
Following the development, the Istiadat Menjunjung Duli and the Selangor State Honours Investiture Ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow (Nov 1) as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations marking the Sultan’s 25 years on the throne, have been postponed.
Both ceremonies will now take place on Nov 7.
Istana Alam Shah has urged all parties involved to take note of the revised date and expressed its appreciation for their cooperation and understanding.
The palace also called on the public to pray for His Majesty’s speedy recovery and continued good health.
