Shah Alam Brawl That Left One Dead Believed To Be Gang Turf War

Date:

The deadly brawl in Shah Alam that claimed one life is believed to have stemmed from a turf war between two rival gangs, police said.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said 11 suspects, aged between their 20s and 30s, have been arrested to assist investigations, while police are still tracking down several other individuals who have already been identified.

According to Shazeli, all 11 suspects are believed to be members of two gangs operating in the area, with one of the groups reportedly formed only recently.

“Five suspects have been remanded for seven days while the other six were brought to court today for their remand application,” he said during a press conference here.

Police are also monitoring the condition of three other individuals believed to be linked to the incident, who are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The violent confrontation took place on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in one person dying at the scene after being struck by a blue Perodua Alza. Several videos circulating on social media also appeared to show some individuals involved in the brawl being attacked with sharp weapons.

The investigation is continuing as police work to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects believed to have been involved in the confrontation.
