She Sold Her Soul for $1,180… and Bought a Labubu And Concert Ticket!

Date:

In a bizarre social media stunt, a Russian man offered to buy someone’s soul for $1,180 (around RM4,958.95), and a young woman actually agreed—using her own blood to sign the contract. The unusual event has drawn reactions from the Russian Orthodox Church.

According to foreign media reports, Dmitri, a marketing consultant, posted on Telegram jokingly that he wanted to purchase a soul and was willing to pay $1,180 to anyone who would seal the deal with their blood. While he didn’t expect any takers, 26-year-old Karina responded and agreed to sell hers.

Karina pressed her blood onto the contract and handed it to Dmitri. Describing the experience as a “social experiment,” Dmitri admitted he wasn’t sure what to do with the soul, joking that he now felt like Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean.

As for Karina, she immediately spent the money on a Labubu doll and a ticket to a folk music concert by Nadezhda Kadisheva—her main priority being the doll.

The incident has sparked online debate over whether the transaction was merely a publicity stunt, an act of desperation, or a reflection of how far people might go for money. While Karina seemed unconcerned about the fate of her soul, the Russian Orthodox Church weighed in, issuing an official statement condemning the act. The Church warned that by selling her soul, the young woman had chosen evil and would likely face moral and personal decline, suffering, illness, and even death.
