Six MRSM Students Face Expulsion Over Alleged Bullying Case In Johor

Date:

Six Form Five students from a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Johor are facing possible expulsion after allegedly being involved in a bullying incident that prompted the victim to seek withdrawal from the school.

Mara Chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said he was deeply saddened and disappointed after learning about the case, which only came to light when the victim’s parents shared their ordeal on social media. According to the post, their child had requested to leave the boarding school after being unable to endure the alleged bullying any longer.

Based on preliminary information, the incident is believed to involve six senior students. The victim’s parents have also lodged a police report, while the six suspects were reportedly remanded for two days to assist with investigations.

Following the report, Asyraf Wajdi immediately instructed Mara’s Secondary Education Division and the MRSM management to convene the College Disciplinary Committee within 24 hours to conduct a thorough investigation and impose the strictest action against any student found responsible.

“If they are found guilty, they must be expelled from MRSM,” he said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

He stressed that Mara will never tolerate any form of bullying or acts by senior students who take it upon themselves to “discipline” their juniors. Reiterating Mara’s firm stance under its “You Touch, You Go” policy, he said any student proven to have bullied others would no longer have a place in any MRSM institution.

Asyraf Wajdi also urged all MRSM students not to remain silent if they experience or witness bullying, encouraging them to report such incidents immediately to teachers, wardens or school administrators so swift action can be taken.

He further warned that Mara would not hesitate to act against anyone found attempting to conceal or protect bullying cases.

“There will be no compromise and no place for bullies in MRSM,” he said, reaffirming the organisation’s zero-tolerance approach towards bullying in its educational institutions.
