A teacher was charged at the Sessions Court here today with five offences involving physical sexual assault and unnatural intercourse against three male students, all aged 17.

The accused, Mohd Shafie Mohamad, 47, pleaded not guilty to all five charges when they were read before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

For the first three charges, Mohd Shafie is accused of committing physical sexual assault and unnatural intercourse against a 17-year-old boy who was 17 years and eight months old at the time of the alleged offences.

The alleged offences took place at a hotel here and in a bedroom at a house in Kampung Tok Berlian, Bachok, in June 2025, April 2026 and on Sept 17, 2026.

For the fourth charge, Mohd Shafie is accused of physically sexually assaulting another 17-year-old boy, who was 17 years and six months old, at a house in Kampung Tok Berlian around mid-August 2026.

The fifth charge alleges that he committed physical sexual assault against a 17-year-old boy, aged 17 years and five months at the time, at the same house at around 6pm on Aug 26, 2026.

The charges were brought under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 377B of the Penal Code, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Arina Razali appeared for the prosecution, while Mohd Shafie was represented by lawyer Nurul Samhana Aidenan.

The court granted the accused bail of RM23,000 with one surety for all five charges.

Additional bail conditions require him to provide a permanent residential address, refrain from contacting or interfering with prosecution witnesses and the alleged victims, and report to the nearest police station once every two months.

The court fixed Nov 10 for mention of the case, and the accused has since posted the bail.
