A 56-year-old teacher from Kolej Vokasional Kuantan was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV on Jalan Semambu near Petronas Semambu on Friday morning.
Roshaizat Abdul Kadir suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash at about 8am.
Kuantan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah said preliminary investigations found that the SUV was believed to have lost control before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the motorcycle travelling from the other direction.
“The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem,” he said.
The 29-year-old male SUV driver was arrested to assist with the investigation.
Ashari said police have also obtained dashcam footage and will conduct an inspection of the vehicle involved.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Further investigations are underway to determine the actual cause of the crash,” he said.
He urged road users to comply with traffic regulations and drive carefully.
