A toddler was brutally hacked to death in front of his mother as she unloaded groceries outside a supermarket in Ohio. The horrifying attack happened when 32-year-old Bionca Ellis, armed with two stolen butcher knives, approached 3-year-old Julian Wood, who was sitting in a shopping trolley, and began stabbing him repeatedly. Julian’s mother, Margot, tried desperately to pull her son from the cart, but the assault — which lasted just five seconds — left the boy with fatal injuries to his face and back.
Ellis was arrested moments later, still holding the bloodied knife. At her trial, Julian’s father, Jared, described his son as “funny, outgoing, fearless” and “full of life, love, and laughter,” calling Ellis a “monster.” Julian’s mother gave a heart-wrenching statement in court, saying: “I watched him take his first breath when he was born and his last when he died in my arms, covered in blood. The last thing I will ever hear from my son is his scream.”
Ellis was convicted on October 15 of aggravated murder, multiple counts of murder and attempted murder, child endangerment, and theft. Her lawyer described the incident as the act of a “different version of Bionca,” while Ellis herself tearfully apologized in court, saying, “I’m really sorry for what happened.” Police confirmed she had previous theft-related charges but no record of violent offenses before the tragic killing.
