Two Kedah Teachers Removed After Allegations of Sexual Misconduct Go Viral

Date:

The Kedah Education Department has removed two teachers from their respective Education Ministry (MoE) institutions following allegations of sexual misconduct.

In a statement, the department confirmed that both cases—unrelated to each other—are currently under investigation.

“The Kedah Education Department takes allegations of sexual misconduct seriously. Both teachers have been removed from their positions until investigations are completed,” the statement said. “We do not compromise on any behaviour involving sexual misconduct and will continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers, and all members of educational institutions.”

The allegations went viral on social media yesterday after police reports were circulated online.

In the first case, a former educator claimed that a male secondary school teacher in the district had engaged in inappropriate acts involving a 15-year-old female student. Screenshots of conversations between the teacher and student were shared online, alongside confirmations that reports had been filed with the police and the Public Complaints Management System (Sispaa).

In the second case, a 17-year-old female student lodged a complaint at the Alor Setar police station on October 21, alleging that a teacher used lewd language and behaved inappropriately while teaching History.
