Two Killed In Tragic Two-Car Collision Near Felcra Sungai Ara Junction

Two individuals lost their lives while four others sustained injuries following a tragic road accident involving two vehicles near the Felcra Sungai Ara junction in Kota Tinggi, Johor on Thursday morning. The collision, which occurred at approximately 8.57 am, involved a Proton Saga and a Nissan Sentra. Emergency services were alerted immediately, prompting a swift response from the Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).

Senior Fire Officer II Azlan Hamzah, the operations commander, confirmed that eight personnel were dispatched to the scene, arriving at 9.39 am. Upon arrival, rescue teams discovered a total of six victims caught in the wreckage of the two cars. The impact of the crash had left several individuals trapped within the mangled vehicles, necessitating the use of specialised rescue equipment to extricate them.

A 26-year-old woman identified as P. Priyanka and an adult male, both of whom were travelling in the Nissan Sentra, were confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (KKM) officials. Both victims had been pinned inside the vehicle due to the severity of the collision. Their remains were successfully recovered by the Fire and Rescue Department and have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and post-mortem procedures.

The four other victims, comprising three adult men and one adult woman who were inside the Proton Saga, survived the incident but sustained various injuries. Rescue personnel provided initial medical treatment at the site before transferring the injured parties to the care of the Ministry of Health for further hospital treatment. The current condition of the survivors has not been disclosed by the authorities.

Firefighters utilised specialised Road Traffic Accident (RTA) tools to manage the extraction process and ensure the safety of the site during the recovery operation. The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the local police to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter. Local residents have frequently highlighted the junction as a point of concern for road safety, though official reports on the specific cause are pending.
