Two friends pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to two charges of robbing two separate grocery stores in Besut, causing total losses of RM1,300.
The accused, Muhammad Aidil Adhar Ruzi, 24, and Mohd Noorhermie Mazuki, 35, admitted to both charges after they were read before Judge Ahmad Fadhli Mahmud.
According to the first charge, the pair allegedly robbed a grocery store while armed with a machete at Kampung Pengkalan Nyireh, Besut, at about 12.24am on July 7.
During the incident, they were accused of stealing RM800 in cash belonging to the shop owner, a 53-year-old woman.
The offence was framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years, as well as a fine or whipping upon conviction.
The two men also admitted to a second charge of robbing another grocery store in Kampung Alor Peroi, Kuala Besut, at about 1.54am on June 29.
They were accused of acting together with another suspect who remains at large while armed with a machete and stealing RM500 in cash from the premises owned by a 37-year-old woman.
The second charge was brought under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
