Two School Students Allegedly Kill Grandmother After Being Barred From Dating

Date:

Two Cambodian school students have been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing their grandmother to death following a dispute over their romantic relationships.

The accused, 19-year-old Seng Chanboramey and his 18-year-old sister Seng Heng Sanika, are facing charges under Article 199 of Cambodia’s Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment if convicted.

The incident reportedly took place on 5 April at the family home they shared with the victim, a 64-year-old woman.

According to authorities, tensions escalated after the grandmother allegedly forbade the siblings from having boyfriends, fearing it could negatively affect their academic performance.

The pair are accused of losing their temper and stabbing the elderly woman multiple times from behind after being unable to accept her restrictions.

Her body, bearing multiple stab wounds, was discovered a day later, prompting an investigation that led to the arrest of the two siblings.

The victim was later laid to rest on Wednesday, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic case.
