Two-Year-Old Allegedly Treated Roughly By Caregiver At Nursery

Date:

Police have opened an investigation into allegations that a caregiver acted roughly towards a two-year-old girl at a nursery in Mentakab, Temerloh.

Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said police received a report from the child’s 29-year-old mother at around 6pm on Saturday.

Police also detected a social media post containing a video which allegedly showed the caregiver handling the child roughly.

“Based on the report lodged by the woman, her daughter was allegedly treated roughly by the caregiver while she was at the nursery,” Mohd Nasyim said in a statement on Saturday.

He said police had opened an investigation paper and were investigating the case under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.

Investigations are ongoing, and the investigation papers will be referred to the prosecution for further instructions, he said.

If convicted, the individual could face up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to RM50,000, or both.

Mohd Nasyim also urged the public not to speculate about the case, warning that such speculation could interfere with the police investigation.
