An unemployed man pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here today to three charges of abusing his stepdaughter and biological daughter between July and August this year.
The accused, Noor Asri Shafei, 35, entered his guilty plea after the three charges were read separately before Judge Datin Kunasundary Marimuthu.
His wife, Noorhayati Dollah, 44, also pleaded guilty to one charge of jointly abusing a 15-year-old girl under their care, resulting in physical injuries to the child.
The remaining two charges against Noor Asri involved alleged abuse of his 15-year-old stepdaughter and one-year-old biological daughter.
The offences were allegedly committed at Sungai Batang Labu, Kampung Jerangkang Darat, Nilai, between July 22 and August 12.
The charges were brought under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, the offence carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment of up to 20 years, or both.
The court allowed Noor Asri to be released on RM19,000 bail, while Noorhayati was granted bail of RM8,000.
Both accused were also ordered to report to a police station once a month, refrain from contacting the victims and prosecution witnesses, and surrender their passports to the court.
The case has been fixed for September 21 for the presentation of facts and sentencing.
