A van driver has amused social media users after appearing to stop at a toll plaza to make a payment despite being pursued by police.
The unusual move earned praise from some netizens, who joked that the driver was still determined to follow road rules and pay the toll despite allegedly being involved in an offence.
A Threads user known as @Nyzamferiy shared CCTV footage showing the van being chased by police before reaching a toll plaza.
“The CCTV footage of a van being chased by police has gone viral. The driver even managed to stop to pay the toll before attempting to flee again.
“Police officers were also seen trying to open the van door, but the chase continued. Even while being chased by police, the toll still had to be paid,” the user wrote.
However, footage shared online showed that the driver did not appear to complete the payment before police officers moved in to apprehend him.
The driver was then seen accelerating the van and crashing through the toll barrier.
The incident sparked various reactions in the comments section, with several users jokingly comparing the driver’s apparent attempt to pay the toll with motorists who tailgate other vehicles to avoid paying.
“At least this driver made an effort to pay the toll, unlike those who drive too closely behind the car in front just to get through for free,” wrote @Ka_khairulanwar.
Another user, @Tamara_dahlia2528, commented: “The van driver has more dignity than those who tailgate others to get a free toll ride.”
Kosmo! reported on Saturday that social media users had been discussing footage showing several police patrol cars with flashing blue lights pursuing a van along the Maju Expressway (MEX).
The incident drew attention on Threads, where several users shared recordings and questioned what had actually happened on the highway.
