Victim Burnt To Death In Kampung Bayu Permai Fire Incident

Date:

A man was found charred to death in a fire at Kampung Bayu Permai here today.

The victim, identified as Baha Sudirman, 49, an Indonesian national, was discovered in a burnt state in one of the rooms of a double-storey house he shared with family members.

Beluran Fire and Rescue Station chief Nur Azlan Shah Jamalludin said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 9.40am.

He said firefighters faced difficulty reaching the location, which is about 18 kilometres from the station, due to the lack of access roads.

According to him, a team of six firefighters was deployed to the scene and had to use a portable pump with water sourced from a nearby pond to control the blaze.

The victim was later found burnt beyond recognition inside the house and handed over to police for further action.

He added that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire operation was fully concluded at 12.40pm.
