A viral video showing several foreign nationals allegedly processing and selling beef inside a carpet and general goods shop in Jalan Plaza Melaka Sentral 1 has been confirmed to be old footage, according to the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB).
The 25-second video, which has resurfaced on social media, shows one individual chopping beef bones while two others are seen weighing and packaging meat for sale.
However, Melaka Historic City Mayor Datuk Shadan Othman said the clip was recorded around two years ago and is now being recirculated online.
“Based on our checks, there is currently no issue involving the processing or sale of beef as claimed in the viral video. The footage is an old recording that has been reshared and is believed to date back about two years,” he said when contacted.
Shadan added that MBMB continues to conduct regular inspections in the area to ensure that all business premises comply with the relevant regulations.
He stressed that, based on the council’s latest inspections, no such activities are currently taking place at the location shown in the video.
