A water storage tank from the rooftop of a hotel near Ampang Point, Jalan Memanda 5, fell and landed on two vehicles parked at a public parking area on Saturday.
The incident caused panic among nearby residents and visitors after the tank crashed onto the vehicles parked in front of New Wave Hotel Ampang Point.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
He said initial investigations found that the water storage tank was believed to have fallen from the upper section of the hotel building before hitting two parked cars.
Both vehicle owners later lodged police reports regarding the incident, which went viral on social media after screenshots and videos showing damaged car roofs were widely shared online.
Khairul Anuar said the case has been classified as a Report of Accident (ROA) for insurance claim purposes, while further investigations are being carried out to determine the actual cause of the incident.
Authorities are continuing checks to ensure the safety of the affected area and prevent any possible risks to the public.
