Wear Helmets Or Face Action, Police Tell Negeri Sembilan Candidates

Date:

Police have reminded all candidates and party machinery contesting in the Negeri Sembilan state election to comply with all laws throughout the campaign period, including wearing helmets while riding motorcycles.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said enforcement action would be taken against anyone found violating the regulations, regardless of their political affiliation.

He said police had already met with representatives of all candidates and political parties to brief them on the rules and guidelines governing the election campaign.

“We have explained and reminded all party representatives about the regulations that must be observed during the campaign period, including the requirement to wear helmets when riding motorcycles.

“Police, together with the Election Commission (EC), have also formed several monitoring teams to ensure that all instructions and regulations are fully complied with,” he told reporters after the nomination process at the Port Dickson Administrative Complex Auditorium on Saturday.

Alzafny also said the nomination process at all eight nomination centres across Negeri Sembilan proceeded smoothly in a peaceful and orderly manner.

He noted that supporters from all political parties complied with police instructions and dispersed shortly after the announcement of the candidates.

According to him, attendance at the nomination centres ranged between 1,000 and 2,500 supporters, with Jempol recording the highest turnout of about 2,500 people, while Kuala Pilah had the lowest attendance at around 1,000 supporters.

He added that police did not receive any reports of untoward incidents throughout the nomination process, describing the overall situation as well-controlled.
