Woman Killed After Fallen Oil Palm Tree Crushes Her In Kluang

Date:

A local woman was killed after she was crushed by a fallen oil palm tree at Ladang Kekayaan in Paloh, Kluang, on Saturday.

Kluang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) operations commander PBK II Yusma Yuzaini said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.01pm.

Following the report, eight firefighters, assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue personnel used an excavator and specialised equipment to remove the fallen tree that had trapped the victim beneath it.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Syafiyah Abdul Rashid, was successfully extricated before she was pronounced dead at the scene by a Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officer.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has advised the public to remain vigilant when carrying out activities in plantations or forested areas, especially after heavy rain, as such conditions can increase the risk of falling trees.

Authorities reminded the public to prioritise safety and avoid areas where unstable trees may pose a danger following adverse weather conditions.
