Yamaha RXZ Rider Killed After Two Motorcycles Collide, Car Crashes Into Him On LPT2

Date:

A Yamaha RXZ rider was killed after his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle before being struck by a car along the East Coast Highway Phase 2 (LPT2), Ajil-Telemong stretch, last night.

The crash occurred at around 11.45pm, with 38-year-old Mohd Yusri Rusdi pronounced dead at the scene.

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Superintendent Sharudin Abdul Wahab said the accident involved a Honda HR-V and two Yamaha RXZ motorcycles, all travelling from Ajil towards Telemong.

Initial investigations found that the three vehicles were returning from Cherating, Pahang, to Kuala Terengganu.

“Upon arriving at the scene, police found that the two motorcycles had apparently brushed against each other before both riders fell onto the road.

“A car travelling behind them then struck one of the fallen riders in the right lane. The impact threw the victim into a drain on the left side of the road, where he was pronounced dead,” he said.

The victim’s body was taken to Hulu Terengganu Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Another motorcycle rider, a 34-year-old man, suffered a fracture to his right arm, while the HR-V driver and passenger escaped uninjured.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
