Year Five Pupil Injured After Falling From School’s Third Floor While Trying To Catch Pigeons

Date:

A Year Five boy was injured after reportedly falling from the third floor of a school building in Padang Terap on Tuesday afternoon while attempting to catch pigeons.

Padang Terap District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Anuar Junoh said police received a call from a teacher at around 4pm informing them of the incident.

Initial investigations found that the pupil had allegedly climbed to the upper level of the school building in an attempt to retrieve a bird’s nest. It is understood he accessed the ceiling area through a fire hose route to catch pigeons hiding inside.

The incident reportedly happened after the boy had returned home from his morning school session before coming back to attend afternoon KAFA classes. The accident occurred before the religious class began, with the pupil said to have climbed into the ceiling alone on the third floor.

The boy is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah in Alor Setar.

Police said preliminary findings indicate the incident was a self-inflicted accident, with no signs of criminal elements involved. Investigations into the case are still ongoing.
