A young couple was detained by Kota Bharu Islamic City Municipal Council (MPKB-BRI) enforcement officers after they were found behaving suspiciously inside a car in Tunjong, Kota Bharu, at around 9pm on Saturday.
The detention took place during an enforcement operation targeting alleged immoral activities within the municipal council’s administrative area.
In a Facebook statement, MPKB-BRI said its officers detected the couple through patrols and monitoring carried out as part of the operation.
The council said the operation was aimed at preventing immoral activities while ensuring areas under its jurisdiction remained controlled, safe and well-maintained.
It added that the enforcement efforts were also in line with Kota Bharu’s image as an Islamic City.
Sinar Harian said it was contacting MPKB-BRI to obtain further details about the operation, including the action taken against the detained couple.
