A total of 11 fatal road accidents were recorded among 46 motorcycle crashes linked to the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering, according to the Royal Malaysia Police.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali said the figures were recorded over the four-day event from July 30 to August 2.
Besides the 11 fatal crashes, police recorded five serious accidents and 30 minor accidents involving motorcycle riders.
The highest number of crashes occurred on July 31, with 16 cases reported. This was followed by 15 accidents on August 2, 11 on August 1, and four on July 30.
Police also found that riders aged 21 to 30 accounted for the largest number of those involved in accidents, with 19 cases. They were followed by riders aged 18 to 20 (10 cases), 41 to 50 (nine cases), and 31 to 40 (eight cases).
Overall, 29 of the 46 riders involved were between 18 and 30 years old, with 20-year-olds recording the highest number of individual cases at seven.
Of the total victims, 44 were men while two were women.
Rear-end collisions were the most common type of accident, accounting for 21 cases, followed by 15 self-skidding incidents, seven side-impact collisions, and three sideswipe crashes.
Muhammed Hasbullah said preliminary investigations identified carelessness, loss of vehicle control, tailgating, and unsafe riding practices as the main contributing factors behind the crashes.
He urged motorcyclists to obey speed limits, maintain a safe following distance, avoid uncontrolled group riding, refrain from racing or performing dangerous stunts, and ensure their motorcycles are in good condition before travelling.
All fatal crashes are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, while serious injury cases are being investigated under Section 43(1) of the same Act.
The police also called on organisers of motorcycle gatherings to implement proper travel plans, conduct safety briefings for participants, and work closely with authorities to minimise the risk of accidents.
Muhammed Hasbullah added that traffic enforcement operations would continue to be intensified, with strict action to be taken against anyone found violating traffic laws or riding dangerously.
