Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will strengthen strategic investments in local airlines through the procurement of 178 new aircraft, increased flight services, and improved airport infrastructure.
When tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in Parliament, Anwar said the initiative aims to boost the country’s aviation sector and better connect Malaysia to international destinations.
According to the 13MP report, the 178 aircraft will be acquired by 2030 to expand seating capacity and accommodate growing passenger demand.
In addition, flight frequencies and routes to ASEAN countries will be increased to support the rising demand in tourism, trade, and foreign investment, driving further growth in the aviation industry.
