14 Bersatu division chiefs in Perak have urged party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to step down to pave the way for leadership renewal.
The call was made during a press conference attended by several division heads, their deputies and secretaries, who voiced unanimous concern over the party’s ongoing internal crisis.
Acting as spokesperson, Pasir Salak division chief Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said Muhyiddin should take responsibility for the party’s recent setbacks, including Bersatu’s loss in the 17th Sabah state election.
“If no action is taken now, we are concerned that Bersatu will be rejected outright in all constituencies during the next general election. The president must show humility and leadership. We hope Tan Sri will listen to our grievances,” he said.
Zainol Fadzi also claimed that personal issues involving the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman had become a liability, contributing to public rejection of both Bersatu and the coalition.
The group further questioned the decisions of the party’s Disciplinary Board, which has suspended or expelled several leaders, including Ipoh Timur division chief Muhammad Fadhli Ismail, who was expelled on Oct 14.
The divisions supporting the call are Bersatu Tanjung Malim, Pasir Salak, Teluk Intan, Tapah, Kampar, Gopeng, Parit, Beruas, Ipoh Timor, Padang Rengas, Bukit Gantang, Bagan Serai, Larut and Gerik.
