62 Illegal Outposts Dismantled Along Kelantan-Thailand Border, Crackdown Continues

Date:

A total of 62 illegal outposts along the Kelantan-Thailand border have been demolished as of yesterday, with authorities continuing efforts to remove the remaining structures.

Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the demolition of the remaining outposts is expected to be completed within a week.

“A total of 223 illegal outposts have been identified along the Kelantan border, comprising 216 on government land and seven on private land. Of the government land outposts, 120 were unstructured, while 96 were structured. So far, 62 of the structured outposts have been successfully dismantled following firm action by security forces,” he said at a press conference following the Monthly Assembly of the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) today.

Mohd Yusoff added that structured outposts still in existence, particularly in Tumpat, are being prioritised for immediate action, with no compromise, and are expected to be fully removed within a week.

He stressed that any demolished outposts must never be rebuilt, and failure to secure cleared areas will be the full responsibility of district and departmental leadership.

“The Malaysia-Thailand border is not just a line on the map; it is a route for cross-border crimes including drugs, weapons, human trafficking, and smuggling. The demolition of illegal outposts along this border is not a seasonal effort but a silent war to protect national sovereignty,” he said.

“There will be no compromise with anyone attempting to use Kelantan as a corridor for crime. Inter-agency cooperation must continue to ensure enforcement is comprehensive, consistent, and has long-term impact in combating cross-border crime,” he added.

He also emphasised the importance of community-based policing to gain public support and intelligence, noting that being community-friendly does not mean being lenient on lawbreakers.
