AirBorneo has assured travellers that air fares on all its routes will remain the same as the current MASwings prices as the airline prepares to take over rural air services from January next year.
In a statement today, AirBorneo confirmed that during its initial phase, all routes will operate under the Rural Air Services (RAS) programme, covering destinations across Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan, mirroring the existing MASwings network.
“The fare structure is designed to ensure continuity and sustainability of operations, factoring in the subsidy provided under the public service obligation agreement with the federal government (‘RAS Agreement’),” the statement said. Any future fare adjustments will only be considered after a new RAS agreement is mutually agreed with the federal government.
AirBorneo added that it will continue working closely with federal authorities and explore all options to maintain the most affordable fares for travellers in East Malaysia. The airline is also developing an affordable pricing strategy for non-RAS routes in the future, aiming to balance operational costs with value, connectivity, reliability, and punctuality for passengers in Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan.
AirBorneo officially launched its booking website on December 10, with ticket sales opening for travel from January 14, 2026, ahead of its legal and operational takeover of MASwings on January 1, 2026.
