Akmal Saleh Urges PM Anwar To Reveal And Charge Those Who ‘Plundered’ Tabung Haji Funds

Date:

UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh has called on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to identify, arrest and prosecute those allegedly responsible for misappropriating funds from Lembaga Tabung Haji.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Akmal said that since a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) had already been conducted into Tabung Haji, the public has the right to know who was responsible.

“I urge the Prime Minister to arrest and charge those who allegedly plundered Tabung Haji’s funds.

“The people deserve to know who took the money. An RCI on Tabung Haji has already been carried out, so reveal their identities and bring those responsible to justice,” he wrote.

The Merlimau assemblyman said allegations of funds being “plundered” had been discussed for years, but claimed that no individual has been prosecuted or found guilty over the matter.

“We hope the Prime Minister will identify and arrest those who allegedly took the money,” he added.

Earlier, Anwar, during an event in Ampangan, Negeri Sembilan, expressed disappointment that some people were still unaware of past financial scandals involving public funds.

The Prime Minister said those included issues related to Tabung Haji and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), which he described as examples of funds being misappropriated.
