DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook has once again declared Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun as Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Menteri Besar candidate should the coalition secure victory in the Negeri Sembilan state election on Aug 1.
Speaking at PH’s candidate announcement ceremony on Tuesday, Loke said Aminuddin remains the coalition’s undisputed leader in the state, despite his own position as a federal minister.
“In Negeri Sembilan, our poster boy is very clear. We have only one Menteri Besar candidate and only one commander leading our campaign — Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
“Although I am a minister at the federal level, in Negeri Sembilan my boss is Tok Min (Aminuddin). I fully support him as our Menteri Besar candidate,” he said.
Loke said the Negeri Sembilan government under Aminuddin’s leadership has delivered a strong track record since Pakatan Harapan first formed the state administration in 2018.
The Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman also reminded PH leaders, members and campaign workers to be mindful of their words and to respect the state’s customs and royal institution throughout the campaign period to prevent any issue from being exploited by political opponents.
“I also want to emphasise that DAP has always upheld the principles of the Federal Constitution, the constitutional monarchy and the Rukun Negara.
“The entire DAP leadership and membership remain loyal to the constitutional monarchy in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
He further stressed that the party remains committed to the Undang Yang Empat, the Tunku Besar of Tampin, and Negeri Sembilan’s traditional adat system.
Loke also cautioned campaign workers against making jokes or casual remarks about the state’s unique customary system.
“In Negeri Sembilan, there is no Fifth Undang. I want to remind all our friends, campaign workers and members to observe proper decorum and conduct. Do not make light-hearted jokes about Negeri Sembilan’s traditional adat system,” he said.
