Malaysia has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted Qatar’s capital city, Doha, on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the attack as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a serious breach of international law.
He said the strikes not only endangered civilian lives but also threatened the fragile stability of the region.
“Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli airstrikes on Doha. This action is a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and an outright breach of international law. It recklessly endangers civilian lives, strikes at the heart of a sovereign capital, and jeopardises an already fragile regional stability,” Anwar said in a statement on Wednesday.
He stressed that by targeting Qatar—a nation that plays a vital role as a mediator and promoter of dialogue in the Middle East—Israel had shown blatant disregard for peace efforts.
“Such attacks are indefensible and utterly unacceptable,” he added.
Anwar affirmed that Malaysia stands firmly with Qatar in facing this situation and urged the international community to act swiftly.
“Malaysia calls on the global community to hold Israel accountable for this excessive act of aggression,” he said.
