Anwar Ibrahim Says Cabinet Vacancies to Be Filled Without Major Reshuffle

Date:

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today that while key Cabinet vacancies need to be filled, any upcoming reshuffle is unlikely to be extensive.

Anwar explained that a reshuffle is important for the long-term stability of the government, but the current Cabinet still has about a year and a half remaining in its mandate.

“Yes, we need to fill the vacancies, but a reshuffle is only necessary if there is a long way to go. I don’t think an extensive reshuffle is required,” he told reporters after launching Perodua’s first electric vehicle at Menara MITI.

He added that he has convened the full Cabinet to discuss the next steps, reiterating that filling the vacancies remains a priority.
