Bersama is set to reveal its candidates for the upcoming Melaka state election on Aug 15, party leader Rafizi Ramli has announced.
Rafizi, a former minister, said preparations for the state polls have now reached their final phase, with the party having completed the process of selecting and confirming its candidates.
He said the names would be made public during a special event scheduled for Aug 15, according to remarks made in the latest episode of his Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast.
Meanwhile, Rafizi said he and other Bersama leaders would soon embark on a nationwide tour of parliamentary constituencies to engage with the party’s new members.
The sessions are expected to cover several areas, including an explanation of Bersama’s constitution, preparations for the next general election and activities planned by the party. Such engagements are also aimed at familiarising new members with the party’s direction and organisational structure.
The Melaka state election must be held by the end of February 2027 at the latest. However, Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh was previously reported as saying the polls could take place as early as September.
Bersama’s first electoral test came during the July 11 Johor state election, when all 15 candidates fielded by the party were defeated and subsequently lost their deposits.
