Bersatu Not Finished, Says Muhyiddin Amid Speculation Of Party Collapse

Date:

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is far from finished, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stressed, dismissing recent speculation about the party’s stability. Speaking at an iftar gathering with media representatives last night, he clarified that disciplinary measures, including suspensions and membership terminations, were aimed at addressing internal party issues, Utusan Malaysia reported today.

“Many may have been following developments within Bersatu, but it is incorrect to say the party is dead. Alhamdulillah, the actions we have taken not only held those responsible for political missteps accountable through the Disciplinary Board, but also strengthened the party internally,” Muhyiddin said.

He added that some leaders had announced the dissolution of certain divisions, but only the Supreme Leadership Council (Majlis Pimpinan Tertinggi, MPT) holds that authority. “Such statements are inaccurate and seem intended to suggest we are facing problems,” he remarked.

Muhyiddin expressed confidence that Bersatu, as a component of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, can manage its internal affairs independently. He highlighted recent swift reorganisations of state and divisional leadership led by Datuk Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

In addition, he revealed plans to establish a joint secretariat to strengthen Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR), involving secretaries-general from over 10 parties under the new coalition. “As one of PN’s deputy chairmen, I will present this to the Supreme Council to determine how our cooperation should be structured—whether IPR joins PN directly or forms an electoral pact for upcoming elections,” he added.
