Local drivers who have not renewed their driving licenses for over three years will not automatically qualify for the RON95 petrol subsidy under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) program.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that according to Road Transport Department (JPJ) data, 925,421 license holders have yet to renew their licenses, with 154,641 of them nearing the three-year mark. He emphasized that those whose licenses have lapsed beyond three years will automatically be blocked from receiving the subsidy through the Ministry of Finance’s system.
“For those approaching the three-year expiry, I urge them to renew their licenses immediately to avoid losing the automatic RON95 subsidy,” he said at a press conference at the Transport Ministry today.
Loke added that drivers who fail to renew their licenses beyond three years must retake the Driver Education Curriculum Tests Part 2 and 3 (KPP02 and KPP03) to reactivate their licenses. JPJ records show that 2.4 million competent license holders are currently inactive due to licenses expiring over three years ago, while 925,421 licenses are set to expire within three years.
Since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced BUDI95 on September 22, JPJ has recorded 26,991 license renewals via MyJPJ, mySIKAP, kiosks, or counters. Loke urged Malaysians to check their license expiry dates and renew promptly to avoid any inconvenience.
The BUDI95 program offers RON95 petrol at RM1.99 per liter for local citizens starting September 30, while foreigners will pay RM2.60 per liter.
