Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has appealed for restraint following an incident in which a university student allegedly posted an image of someone stepping on the Quran on the Threads platform.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged the public to allow authorities to handle the investigation and cautioned against reacting emotionally to the matter. “I hope that the actions being taken by the authorities will help to calm the situation,” he said while officiating the opening of Mydin Mart in Bagan Datuk today.
The case involves a Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMP SA) student, who was arrested two days ago in connection with the post. Ahmad Zahid stressed that such actions are unacceptable, particularly among university students, and must not be repeated.
He added that the offender should face appropriate punitive measures, not only to serve as a lesson for the individual but also to reinforce societal awareness and prevent similar incidents in the future.
