The Ministry of Education (KPM) is closely monitoring student involvement in militant and violent activities to prevent any form of extremism from infiltrating educational institutions.
Fadhlina Sidek, the Education Minister, said the matter has been referred to the authorities for further investigation.
“At the same time, at KPM’s level, we are monitoring all student involvement to ensure such elements do not enter the ministry or our educational institutions,” she told reporters after officiating the Sekolah Dalam Hospital (SDH) Programme at Seberang Jaya Hospital on Thursday.
Fadhlina emphasised the importance of close cooperation with enforcement agencies to safeguard students, teachers, and the education system from influences linked to extremist activities.
Recently, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, the Inspector-General of Police, revealed that authorities thwarted attempts to revive the ideology of the Daesh terrorist group in the country, arresting six youths—including three minors—during a special operation.
The suspects, aged between 16 and 21, were detained over a two-day operation launched by the Special Branch starting February 14 in the Klang Valley, Johor, Kedah, and Terengganu. Police also uncovered the presence of a radical cell targeting youths, with communication links to extremist networks abroad.
