Federal Islamic Body To Summon Man Over Cross-Dressing At International Event

Date:

The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) has learned of a local man dressing in women’s clothing while attending an international event and will summon him for a meeting to conduct a further investigation.

The news was shared on the official Facebook page of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) Dakwah Division last night.

The post quoted JAWI director Hanifuddin as saying that the department has already issued a summons and will meet the man soon to carry out the investigation.

Earlier, a 27-second video circulated on social media showing a man wearing a high-slit evening gown while attending an international event, sparking public attention and debate.

On December 26, the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Minister Datuk Seri Zulkifli Hassan issued a statement saying he had instructed JAKIM to investigate the matter further and to take appropriate action under existing laws.
