Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysians to stand by principled leaders who genuinely care about the people’s struggles, saying the country needs problem-solvers rather than those who merely criticise others.
He singled out Transport Minister Anthony Loke as an example of a leader who listens to the public and seeks solutions to the challenges faced by taxi drivers.
Anwar acknowledged that not every problem could be resolved overnight, but stressed that leaders must have sincere intentions and a genuine commitment to easing the burden on those in need.
“We want to choose ministers and leaders who care about people’s welfare. It is impossible to solve every problem in a single day, but at least they must have good intentions,” he said.
Anwar also defended Loke, saying leaders who were genuinely committed to serving the public should be supported and retained in government.
“I am not praising him just because Loke is here. People like him might think of quitting. Why should good people like this want to leave? Let those who are corrupt quit, right?
“We should stand by good people like him. These are the people leading our country. Do not worry about what people say politically,” he said.
He was speaking at the launch of special financial assistance for taxi drivers, rental car drivers and school bus drivers.
