The government has agreed to provide a 50 percent toll discount for private vehicles in conjunction with Christmas celebrations on 23 and 24 December.
The discount applies to Class 1 vehicles (Class 2 at Penang Bridge) at all toll plazas, except Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Second Malaysia-Singapore Link (LINKEDUA).
Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the government will bear an estimated financial cost of RM20.65 million to compensate all highway concessionaires involved.
“The toll discount is expected to help reduce travel costs for Malaysians planning to return to their hometowns or go on holiday with their families, in line with the Madani Government’s aim to assist citizens of all religions, races, and beliefs,” he said.
He added that the selected dates also aim to ease festive and school holiday traffic while optimizing highway operations at rest areas and Rehat & Rawat (RSA) stops.
Highway users are advised to plan their journeys using the TuJu Highway Navigation App, LLM, and MyPLUS-TTA, and to follow suggested travel schedules, speed limits, signage, and highway regulations to ensure safe travel.
Travelers can check traffic status or any incidents via the official social media channels of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) on Facebook, X @LLMtrafik, TikTok @llmtrafik, or contact the LLM Traffic Management Centre at 1-800-88-7752.
